چکیده
A 5-year-old boy was referred to our hospital for evaluation of headache, tortuous intracranial arteries and vertebral arteries found up on brain magnetic resonance angiography. The patient’s family history was unremarkable for any genetic disease. He was born at 39 weeks of gestation by spontaneous vaginal delivery without complications. His birth weight was 3,580 gm. Loeys-Dietz syndrome with bilateral radial head dislocations: a case report.
Loeys-Dietz syndrome is characterised by vascular aneurysms, hypertelorism, and a bifid uvula. We report on an 11-year-old boy with Loeys-Dietz syndrome who presented with bilateral radial head dislocations and severe osteopaenia with changes of avascular necrosis in both hips causing an out-toeing, wide gait. Considering the poor prognosis for elbow movement and possible radial head dysplasia,...
متن کاملA Case of Near Total Aortic Replacement in an Adolescent With Loeys-Dietz Syndrome
Loeys-Dietz syndrome is a recently described autosomal dominant disorder caused by mutations in the genes for transforming growth factor-beta receptor type 1 or 2 (TGF-ßR 1/2). The syndrome predisposes patients to aortic aneurysm and dissections, along with craniofacial and musculoskeletal abnormalities. Here we report the case of an adolescent who underwent serial near total aortic replacement...
متن کاملMultiple Aortic Operations in Loeys-Dietz Syndrome: Report of 2 Cases
Due to its low prevalence and because there is lack of awareness about it, Loeys-Dietz syndrome is often mis-diagnosed as Marfan syndrome, which has similar skeletal abnormalities and aortic pathology. However, the differential diagnosis between these two connective tissue diseases is critical because they correspond to different surgical indications and surgical decision-making. We report two ...
متن کاملImpaired systolic function in Loeys-Dietz syndrome: a novel cardiomyopathy?
Loeys-Dietz syndrome (LDS) is a recently described autosomal dominant genetic syndrome caused by mutations in the gene encoding transforming growth factorreceptor 1 or 21 with no known cardiac involvement. Common characteristics include aortic and arterial aneurysms or dissections, orbital hypertelorism, and cleft palate or bifid uvula. We report the first case of a cardiomyopathy associated wi...

Loeys-Dietz syndrome is a syndrome caused by heterozygous mutations in the genes encoding type 1 or 2 transforming growth factor-beta receptor (TGF-beta-R1/2). The obstetrical manifestations are risk of rupture of the gravid uterus and the arteries, either during pregnancy or in the immediate postpartum period, and damage to the vagina, perineum and the colon. We describe, for the first time, a...
